Building Voices ™ is an independent publishing company that specializes in Children’s Fiction and Non-Fiction resources for home and school. We publish chapter books, coloring books, journals, and more. In addition, we offer critiquing services and writing mentorships for aspiring writers.
Our mission is to build soft voices into outspoken leaders. In 2011, Taneeka Bourgeois-daSilva founded this organization in efforts to encourage, entertain, and motivate children around the world through reading and supplementary materials. Taneeka is an award-winning author, credentialed teacher, blogger, and entrepreneur with multiple degrees and credentials. She was mentored by award-winning author and UCLA Extension Writers’ Program Professor, Lynn Hightower and has worked with Writers’ Digest editor, Rita Robinson.
Our first novel, Broccoli Chronicles has won three literary awards – NIEA in Children’s Fiction, IndieFab in Juvenile Fiction and the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award. We have successfully launched and funded a Kickstarter project. Our books and publishing company were mentioned in the IBPA’s Independent Magazine, the Big Bear Grizzly, the Children’s Writers Guild, the Chapman University Alumni Blog, the CSUDH Alumni Newsletter, the Encino Charter Elementary flyer/website, Kidlitosphere Central, and in other media. We have an awesome and talented staff with tons of experience. We have about 14 positive Amazon reviews for Broccoli Chronicles and more to come. We have the support from teachers, librarians, and other school officials. Our books are available through Ingram, Amazon, BN.com, and a few other places.
We have memberships with IBPA and SCBWI.
